Brazil Independence Day is celebrated on September 7th each year to commemorate the day in 1822 when Brazil declared its independence from Portugal. On that day, Prince Pedro I, who would later become Emperor of Brazil, declared the country’s independence at the banks of the Ipiranga River in São Paulo.
